JOSH WHITE
Q&A with Josh...
Josh graduated from Washington High School in
Kansas City, Kansas and was selected as the
2009 5A Player of the Year.
Josh currently plays for the Fort Scott Greyhounds
in the Jayhawk Conference
The difference I've noticed is that the speed of the game is faster in college. The
players are faster, their arms are stronger, and the pitchers will pitch you away or
pitch you inside, they will not throw you a fastball down the middle.

2)    What advice would you pass on to help prepare other KCK high school student athletes that
have the desire to play college baseball/softball?
Go into college knowing that you have to work hard everyday, in the class room, on
the field, and in the weight room. That's what put you ahead of a average player.

3)    What was the highlight of your first semester of college?
Starting in center field in the fall baseball season. That gave me more confidence
that i can start in February, during the regular season.

4)    Who has inspired you the most when it comes to the game of baseball?
Albert Pujols has inspired me the most. A player from Kansas City that didn't even
get looked at by his home town team, and now he is one of the best in the game.

5)    How does it feel to represent the student athletes of KCK?
It feels good knowing that younger kids are looking at the things I do and learning
from them. Thats what makes people better, and knowing that people are watching
me just makes me work harder.

6)    What keeps you going on the days when practice and school get difficult and you want to give
up?
I just think of where I'm at now, and then i think about where I want to be in the
future. That's what keeps me going.

7)    Favorite Subject? Favorite Teacher? Why?
My favorite subject is First Aid, and my favorite teacher is my first aid teacher
because that is one of my baseball coaches. I have a better connection with him,
rather than my regular teachers because i talk to him just about every day.

8)    If you could go back in time and re-live your senior year in high school, what would you do
different? Why?
I would work harder at practice because my senior year I won the Kansas 5A Player
of the Year, but I was hoping to win the Metro Player of the Year, I finished 3rd in
that voting.

9)    Who introduced you to sports and at what age?
My 3 older brothers started playing sports about two years before I did. I started
playing football and baseball when I was 7.

10)    How do you feel about KCK being granted its own RBI chapter? Why?
That will be very exciting because I played in the RBI league for 10 years, but i had
to drive all the way to Missouri to play games.  That will give kids from Kansas a
place to play, and a chance to compete
